But my speed is undeniably slower on qBittorrent, so while I found the solution by using this train of thoughts, it seems the cause is not what I had concluded. So my ISP has no way to know that I'm downloading torrents, and therefore shouldn't be able to throttle my speed for torrents specifically. However, a VPN hides the protocol, as far as I know, and the outgoing connection through the ISP looks like a bunch of packets being sent and received to/from the target IP address, all encrypted and bundled. Dunno what that is, but it downloaded at full speed, and I thought that confirmed my theory. I saw then that it uses something called WebRTC. My only idea that worked was looking for a web torrent client because I thought that torrents probably communicate, just like browsers use HTTP, using a torrent protocol, and that a web torrent client would circumvent that protocol and use whatever the hell it wanted, probably HTTP, is what I thought. It's clear that qBittorrent is downloading at a slower speed than WebTorrent, but apart from that I have no idea what may be causing it, and I've exhausted my ideas of solutions (VPN, opening the qBittorrent's port on the inbound firewall, etc.) It's electron-based, basically a chromium browser.Ĭuz if so then there is no difference in who you can connect too and stuff.Īnd yeah, in theory, I guess? But it's obvious there's a difference, and I don't know what the difference is. download-limit Maximum download speed in kb/s number default: unlimited -u. What would you suggest I do? What else can I try to get qBittorrent to download at full speed? As such, we scored webtorrent-cli popularity level to be Limited. WebTorrent doesn't, and a VPN won't fix it. I downloaded other clients that also use torrent protocol (Transmission and Deluge) and both have the same problem.
Upload speed: 0 bytes/s
. I checked and my qBittorrent is already set up like that (below you can find a screenshot).Įdit: I also checked the Execution Logs and qBittorrent successfully listens to the port specified on UDT and TCP. Throttling enabled.
I searched online and found some connection settings that people said were optimal for port forwarding and all of that jazz. (qBittorrent jumps a lot in speeds unlike WebTorrent which has a fixedish one) qBittorrent downloads at 287kB/s without VPN and at around 400kB/s with. WebTorrent downloads at 1.3mB/s with and without VPN. Then I got a VPN today to test and opened up a torrent on qBittorrent and on WebTorrent and A/B tested with and without VPN on both. I thought my ISP was trottling my torrent protocol speed, so I got WebTorrent which uses another protocol to download.
